Our aim is for the TES Resources site to be as useful and relevant as possible to those who use it.
We hope that the subject categories in the TES Resources platform now better reflect the range of subjects taught across early years, primary and secondary education systems around the world.
In its previous form, our subject categories were determined by the key stages and curriculum topics of the old English national curriculum. However, we found this to be too narrowly focused now that millions of teachers around the world use the TES Resources platform to discover new teaching ideas and activities for their students.
The new website design allows age range labels to be applied to all subjects and topics and we hope that this will assist our resource uploaders in applying more appropriate age ranges to subjects and topics. For example, a user who chose to upload a teaching resource on algebra was previously restricted to classifying it under Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Under the new design, a resource on algebra for upper primary aged children can be correctly labelled .
We have also reduced the number of subtopics in the taxonomy as we found many resources were inappropriately tagged below topic level. Resource pages are often tagged with too many subtopics and key stage categories and subsequently the same resources appear repeatedly throughout the site. This reduces the effectiveness of subject classification and is not helpful to those searching for resources.
We hope that the changes we have made will make looking for resource on TES easier, however, we rely on our community of teachers who use the TES Resources platform to explore the changes and feedback on their effectiveness. Please direct your feedback to email@example.com.
Your feedback will allow us to review the changes and future updates we make to the website.
